Ezekiel's Birth Story
Ezekiel Walter Beauvais Born August 23, 2016 at 8:31am - 8 lbs 4 oz, 20 inches long. It was Tuesday morning, August 23rd. As I was sleeping, I began to feel contractions... about 5:40am. I was not sure at first if they were contractions because my water had not broken. With my other children, my water broke before contractions began.
This time, I thought perhaps I just needed to go to the bathroom, but the pressure was regularly spaced – about 5-10 minutes apart, so was thinking this might be the real thing! I sent a text message to Tiffanie, my midwife, around 6:00am and told her what I was feeling. As I was communicating with her, my contractions quickly got closer so I told her to come! They were maybe about two minutes apart at this point. Tiffanie and Amy arrived... sometime around 7am. I was pacing around, walking off the contractions.
When my midwives arrived, the contractions were about 1-2 minutes apart. My water still had not broken! Tiffanie said it would break naturally at some point. I began laboring on my hands and knees. After nearly an hour or so, I felt it was time to push. I laid down on the bed and began to push. My wonderful husband was by my side and my dear mother was on her knees praying next to the bed the entire time of delivery.
Tiffanie and Amy were so gracious and encouraging. They offered direction and words of encouragement just when they were needed. It was truly amazing.... After several contractions of pushing, our baby boy was born! He was delivered entirely in his sac, or “en-caul.”. The sac was completely intact until his feet came out. He kicked his foot, the sac burst and the waters spilled out.
The midwives placed our baby on my belly and we got to meet him! What an amazing experience! We named our son Ezekiel. Ezekiel is a Hebrew name meaning “God Strengthens.” God truly does strengthen. God strengthened us through a very difficult time and blessed us with our miracle baby!
